Travelling Back in time

At a time when ships are competing with each other in size, carrying thousands of passengers, where endless identical corridors stretch through impersonal labyrinths, ~ at a time when neon and high voltage strobe lights masquerade as glitz and glamour, it is a time to go back in time - to look back to the golden age of sea travel, to the heydays of personal service, to the floating Grand Hotels of the seas ~ the true Ocean Liners.

The Deutschland has been uniquely created to offer just that, bringing back nostalgic memories of passengers arriving with large steamer trunks ready to embark on long voyages to far horizons. This superb ship brings back the crystal chandeliers, illuminating the imperial, red, double height ballroom, cabins with cream coloured wooden panelling, marble, brass, fine antiques and paintings.

The decor evokes the splendour of the Art Nouveau and golden twenties eras, the comforts of teak steamer deck chairs with plush upholstery, the loom chairs in the palm filled winter garden overlooking the bow, the promenades lining the ships sides inviting a stroll on deck, the lounges with Tiffany glass domes filtering the light in a kaleidoscope of colours.

It is time to embark on a voyage to the past, to partake of a way of life of an era we have sadly missed, now reborn aboard the splendid Deutschland.
